The day in review

I am Grateful for skilled, caring, Doctors...

The day began around 4:00 a.m. rushing around getting ready to leave for the hospital, meeting at Pat's Place, driving into Charlotte, checking in at 5:30, Susan went back to be prepared for surgery, Michael and I were able to go and stay with her from 7 til she was taken to the operating room at 7:30, she was in such good spirits, joking & smiling, talking with all the nurses and doctors buzzing in and out ( she asked the anesthesiologist if he would really be able to keep her from talking for 10 hours or so?) she seemed so at peace & ready to get on with the healing. The Pastor from our home church Stanfield Baptist (who also married Susan & Michael) came by and prayed with us - Susan was especially glad to see him! Then the process began...
1st update: that the preliminary results on the lymph node biopsy was negative. GREAT NEWS!!
2nd update: mastectomy was completed everything went well. GOOD NEWS!!
The surgical teams changed and the next procedure began
lots of updates between, all good
Final Update: consult with surgeon - reconstruction went VERY WELL!  finished about 30 minutes ahead of schedule, he said it couldn't have gone any better he even used the word PERFECT!
We were able to see her about 2 hours later, she looked so GOOD! still a little groggy, she had a numbing  nerve block and a morphine pump going, she was so happy to hear about the lymph nodes, and of course she wanted to know about her boys. As I left I kissed her forehead and told her how everyone had called, texted, emailed so much love and concern  & how proud we all are of her & what a very brave "big girl" she was! She replied "I don't ever want to have  to do this again"
Michael stayed longer and she was able to call her boys and talk with them around 9:30. She was to stay in the recovery room til morning.
So much LOVE and GRATITUDE to everyone who lifted Susan up in prayer and thought yesterday, it was a good day...it was a God day...

And the peace of God which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. __Philippians 4:7
