Game Day Baby!

I am Grateful for Friday night football...

Where we live, Friday nights mean...FOOTBALL. On game mornings we wake our kids up with a loud "Game Day Baby"  It's a fun way to fill the air with the excitement of the upcoming evening no matter who our opponent is, the drills have been run, plays have been memorized, practice has taken place, anticipation has been building...It's finally Game Day!
So when Susan called yesterday afternoon with the news of her surgery, it reminded me of that (not that it is fun at all) but, Yeah! tests have been completed, schedules coordinated, operating room reserved, it's time to tackle that cancer!
Susan's surgery date has been confirmed for Wednesday, October 6th. Although it's a relief to finally have a date so that treatment can begin, it suddenly becomes more real, more immanent, more personal, more scary, more everything... like the Kenny Chesney song (that I love, takes me way on back...) "The Boys of Fall"  "they didn't let just anybody in that club, it takes every ounce of heart and sweat and blood...it's turn to face the stars and stripes, it's fighting back those butterflies...

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.__Philippians 4:6

  1. A course of action, that is wonderful news! You now know where you are going and have a plan to get there. I hope this gives Susan strength and some feeling of control.
