So maybe we should plan ahead?

Ok so my last entry sort of advocated wide sweeping vauge changes for 2010. I must regress and change my stance on New Years Resolutions. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to while I walk is www.fitnessrocks.org in the January 5th, 2007 podcaast Dr.Monte reviews a research study that concludes People who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to change behavior than those who don't. So why not? Right? what have you got to loose...except a few negative behaviors. Some of the tips for keeping your Resolutions that were discussed are:
*start small- limit to 1 or 2 realisistic goals
*develop an action plan- break down into smaller steps
*if you slip up don't give up- recognize eeryone has ups and downs
*celcbrate your sucesses along the way-keeps motivation up
So if you decided not to make resolutions this year because you thought as I did that you would just drop out/off of your plan in the first few weeks....know that research shows different results. Think about that...

  1. One of the things I loved most about working at lululemon was their focus on goal-setting (not necessarily work-related goals, either). They've started up a new area of their website dedicated to goals...it's a fun way to work your goals and track your progress - http://goals.lululemon.com/default.aspx
