coming into focus

I am Grateful for cool clear mornings...

This past week involved another trip to the re-constructive plastic surgeon, final testing (a CT scan of involved areas) and after much prayer, research, open and honest conversations with other women who have been where Susan is now - desperately seeking the right answer when there just doesn't seem to be one. Unlike other cancers (and this is the only one I have been up close and personal with, so I can only speak from the limited knowledge recently acquired), there doesn't seem to be a clear, one size fits all or even most process to it. There are so many individual differences and preferences to take into account before making life altering decisions that must be made in a relatively short period of time - bi or unilateral mastectomy as well as reconstruction options - basically three very different types with different risks, benefits and healing periods for each.

The tough decisions that had to be made, have been... paperwork has been submitted and she is awaiting a call with a confirmed date for surgery.

And your ears hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it", when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. __Isaiah 30:21

  1. As a cancer survivor I can say without hesitation, having cancer has been like joining a club. I didn't choose to join but the wonderful people have amazed, inspired, loved and kept me afloat.
Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin is a cancer survivor. I have included the link to his video, Swim. I play it often and I am eleven years out of treatment :-)

PS. We miss you at yoga but you did the right thing. "Family is the only life insurance you really have."
